谙熟高甲戏各行当尤其是丑行的表演程式与艺术形态，将高甲戏丑行细分为二十多类，并在剧目导演创作中精心设计、融合择取，大大促进了高甲戏丑行的系统传承与充分展示。

Honors & Recognition

第三批国家级非物质文化遗产项目高甲戏代表性传承人。

导演的剧目四次获文化部文华导演奖、三次获曹禺戏剧奖、三次获中宣部五个一工程奖，执导的闽剧《贬官记》入选国家舞台艺术精品工程。
