Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Between 1953 and 1960 he worked as a Laba opera performer in the Mass Quyi Society of the Anshan Opera Association and in the Haicheng Pingju Troupe. After 1960 he returned home to farm but continued to perform locally on a regular basis. He specialized in the dan (female) roles, with a handsome stage appearance, a technique combining natural and falsetto voice, a clear bright voice and vivid facial expression. He adapted several Haicheng Laba opera scripts, including The Legend of the White Snake (Bai She Zhuan), The Marriage of Du and Liu (Du Liu Yin Yuan) and Whipping the Reed Catkins (Bian Da Lu Hua).
