塑造的诸葛亮、曹操、关羽、赵子龙、张飞、周瑜等形象栩栩如生，素有“活鲁肃”和“三国王”之称。

创作和演出的评话数量众多，有《智取威虎山》《飞夺泸定桥》《吕梁英雄传》《将相和》《长江风云》《金石坡》等。

男，汉族，1929年3月生，2013年4月去世，江苏省张家港市人。

第三批国家级非物质文化遗产项目苏州评弹（苏州评话、苏州弹词）代表性传承人。

培养了大批弟子，如张翼良、吕也康、王池良、陈希伯等。
