Ge Yuansheng
Lineage & School of Heritage
He is the seventh-generation inheritor of the Su family coloured glaze firing technique. In 1979 he became a pupil of Su Jie, sixth-generation inheritor of the Su family craft, and studied coloured glaze firing systematically. Using materials common today, he reintegrated all the formulae; under his master's guidance the number of formulae grew from five to more than ten, with a particular breakthrough in peacock-blue glaze. In recent years he has transmitted the glaze formulae and firing techniques he commands, withholding nothing, to Su Yongjun, grandson of the veteran master Su Jie.
