Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
A national representative bearer of Tibetan Metal Forging Craftsmanship (Tibetan Copper Forging Craftsmanship), a third-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. After 1980 he made the Eight Auspicious Symbols, masks, gold and silver Buddhist implements, stupas and the like for more than a hundred monasteries large and small throughout the country. Every piece takes shape from the mind: he draws fully on his imagination, works without sketches and produces the forms with effortless ease. The Buddha images he makes incorporate painterly elements; their faces are benign and their appearance handsome and dignified, and they are lifelike, possessing considerable value for appreciation and for art. His representative works include Lianhuasheng Dashi (Padmasambhava) and Shouhushen Mianju (Guardian Deity Mask).
