幼承家学，书法得到父亲高振霄亲授，后又得到海上名家赵叔孺、王福庵指导，擅长书法、篆刻及印学鉴定。

第三批国家级非物质文化遗产项目印泥制作技艺（上海鲁庵印泥）代表性传承人。
印泥制作技师。
1941年随张鲁庵学习篆刻、印泥制作等技艺。
1953年为张鲁庵整理编写《鲁庵所藏印谱简目》，1955年秋参与由张鲁庵发起成立的篆刻印学社团——中国金石篆刻研究社筹备会。
1956年，为张鲁庵组织创作的《鲁迅笔名印谱》制印三十多方。
保存张鲁庵自制印泥一盒，记录张鲁庵口述四十九号印泥秘方一份。
齐白石曾长期使用其制作的印泥。
