Male, of Han ethnicity, born in October 1956 in Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province. National representative bearer of the Green Tea Making Technique (Huangshan Maofeng), a third-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. A Huangshan Maofeng green tea making technician. Influenced by his forebears from childhood, he became a tea farmer on graduating from high school and learned the traditional Huangshan Maofeng process from his father's generation; after several years of study and practice he mastered the method of adjusting temperature by brushing ash with a fire rake, the method of controlling moisture content and the hand positions of tea frying, and he knew the frying temperature and the firing of the green-killing stage by heart, thus inheriting the traditional Huangshan Maofeng process in full. In 1987 he founded the Huangshan Guangming Tea Factory, processing rough tea by round sieving, shaking sieving, air classification and machine sorting into refined Huangshan Maofeng. In 1994 he was the first to break with the traditional picking rule, mobilising tea farmers to pick fresh buds and leaves before the Qingming Festival and producing tea on the basis of inherited methods; the product sold well in more than twenty provinces and cities across China and in countries including France and Japan.
