自小随胞姊丁伯苓学习古琴，16岁拜师于泛川派顾梅羹，继而师从广陵派张子谦。

男，汉族，1944年3月生，河南省开封市人。
1969年毕业于湖北艺术学院（今武汉音乐学院）民族器乐系，曾任教于河南大学、武汉音乐学院，同时兼任中国音乐学院、台湾“南华大学”客座教授，中国昆剧古琴研究会副会长、湖北省音乐家协会古琴专业委员会会长。
琴学研究成果突出，特别是对清商三调、上古琴制及瑟的研究与实践都颇有建树。
Honors & Recognition
第四批国家级非物质文化遗产项目古琴艺术代表性传承人。
曾主持全国艺术科学“九五”规划重点项目《汉唐清商乐调研究》，1995年获全国高等学校人文社会科学研究优秀成果奖二等奖。
