She studied successively under senior masters such as Ge Suyun and Zheng Lanxiang and specialises in civil-and-martial huadan roles, with a solid grounding in martial skills, crisp and nimble movement, and a clear, elegant and sweet singing voice.

Female, Han ethnicity, born in September 1964, a native of Dongyang County, Zhejiang Province. A National First-Class Performer and an expert receiving the special government allowance of the State Council. In June 1980 she entered the Wuju training class of the Jinhua region, and in 1985 she joined the Zhejiang Wuju Troupe. Through long stage practice she has researched, innovated and developed every aspect of the Wuju female role, including singing, spoken delivery, dance, music, costume and make-up, and has become one of the representative figures of the new generation of Wuju art. Her representative works include Yuan Men Zhan Zi (Beheading the Son at the Camp Gate), Bai She Qian Zhuan (The Prehistory of the White Snake), Kao Da Ti Lao (Interrogation and Imprisonment), Kunlun Nü (The Woman of Kunlun) and Meng Duan Wujiang (Dream Broken on the Wu River). She has devoted herself to training outstanding young performers such as Fan Hongxia, Yang Xiayun, Lou Sheng and Wu Wenling.
Honors & Recognition
National representative bearer of Wuju Opera, a fourth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. She has received the Ministry of Culture's Wenhua Performance Award and the second Plum Blossom Award of the China Drama Plum Blossom Awards, and has been honoured with the titles of Outstanding Expert of the Ministry of Culture, Artist of Both Virtue and Art of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a talent of the Four Batches programme of the Central Publicity Department, and National Model Worker.
