He is the ninth-generation inheritor of the brewing craftsmanship of Luzhou Laojiao liquor.

A man of Han ethnicity, he was born in 1966 in Luzhou, Sichuan. A national representative bearer of Luzhou Laojiaojiuniangzhijiyi (the brewing craftsmanship of Luzhou Laojiao liquor), a first-batch national intangible cultural heritage project, holder of a master's degree, and one of the first batch of masters of Chinese brewing. In 1988, he graduated from the Sichuan Institute of Light Industry and Chemical Technology and was assigned to work at the Luzhou Laojiao Distillery, where he devoted himself to the study of brewing and tasting-evaluation techniques, using the theoretical knowledge he had acquired to guide practice while testing and refining theory in practice, and steadily accumulating experience in production, research and management. On the foundation of inheriting the traditional brewing craft, Shen Caihong has dedicated himself to technological innovation and the training of personnel. Within the Luzhou Laojiao production system he established the four centers (the corporate culture communication center, the production technology research and development center, the equipment upgrading research and development center and the new product research and development center), implemented the four talents program (integrating maintenance, brewing, tasting-evaluation and scientific research and development personnel), and innovated, organized and carried out the establishment and operation of the enterprise quality assurance system. The theories he has created include the solid-state fermentation model of white liquor, the control of alcoholic fermentation by organic acids, aroma generation through fermentation outside the pit, the fermentation of starter (qu) in a micro-oxygen environment, and the hierarchical theory of liquor-body design, among others. He has also published nearly fifty papers on the protection of the traditional brewing craft of Luzhou Laojiao liquor.
Honors & Recognition
His patented achievements include a method for preparing a fixative agent for functional bacteria of pit mud, and the daqu starter and production method for strong-aroma daqu white liquor.
