Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, Han ethnicity, born in November 1964, a native of Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. He is a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and chief craftsman of the Yangzhou Jade Ware Factory. He studied under the arts and crafts master Liu Xiaohua and is mainly engaged in the design and production of jade vessels such as censers, pagodas, vases, incense burners and pots, as well as animal figures. He is adept at choosing forms of expression suited to the overall shape, and he pays attention to absorbing new artistic forms. Building on the shapes of ancient vessels such as bronzes, he brings forth new ideas, handling the conception and expression of traditional subjects with consummate skill. His technical hallmarks are accurate, rational and imposing structure and proportion, which bring out the works' richness, gravity and elegance; vessel forms are regular and symmetrical, with substantial waists and a correspondence between mouth and foot; his craftsmanship is plain and honest, the shapes concise and lucid, the lines and ornament flowing, and the grounds flat and clean.
