Kuaizhenghua
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, Han ethnicity, born in April 1962, a native of Feidong County, Anhui Province. He is an arts and crafts artist. He studied successively under Lü Shanlei, a renowned Dongyang wood carving master, and Wang Jinsheng, a celebrated veteran Huizhou wood carving artisan, and he has long been engaged in the restoration and reproduction of temple wood carvings. In restoration, copying, imitation and creative practice, he has absorbed the strengths of the Hui, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong schools of wood carving, integrating and innovating to create his own "self-formed" wood carving. His approach, carving according to the original form of the material and arranging the composition ingeniously, differs from the traditional practice of carving according to a fixed design. His representative works include "Gathering at the Orchid Pavilion", "The Eight Immortals Roaming", "King Wen Visits the Worthy" and "The Four Loves". In 1995 he settled in Tunxi District, Huangshan City, and established the Zhenghua Studio of Huizhou Wood Carving, where he has distilled the essence of the various schools he absorbed over the years and applied it in practical teaching.
