出身于石湾陶艺世家，自幼随父廖作民学艺，深得家传，19岁开始从事陶塑的创作设计，后又师承陶艺大师刘传，有五十多年的丰富经验，造诣深厚，技艺高超。

男，汉族，1936年10月生，广东省佛山市人。

第四批国家级非物质文化遗产项目石湾陶塑技艺代表性传承人。

高级工艺美术师。

创作特别注重以肌肉、筋络强化人物性格，所塑人物惟妙惟肖，且粗犷朴拙，豪放写意，独具一格，还掌握了陶塑制作流程中有关泥、釉、火的整套技术。

多件作品曾获国家级金奖、一等奖等奖项，或被国家级、省级博物馆收藏。
