Male, Han ethnicity, born in March 1969 in Handan, Hebei Province. A national representative bearer of the Cizhou Yao Firing Craftsmanship, a fourth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He is a firing technician. Born into a family of Cizhou ware potters in Pengcheng, he restored the traditional shaping methods of Cizhou ware, which centre on hand throwing, together with its firing techniques. He has a command of carved polychrome decoration on a white ground (known as saoluo), incised and carved floral decoration on a white glaze (baike), incised and carved decoration on a black glaze (heike), red-and-green colour decoration, and black floral decoration on a white ground (known as tiexiuhua), and has developed more than 280 kinds of art ceramics in different forms and decorative schemes. His works give full expression to the concise, bold, free and elegant style of Cizhou ware. He has collected and catalogued nearly ten thousand specimens and sherds of ancient and modern Cizhou ceramics and established the Cizhou Yao Art Museum.
