Female, Han ethnicity, born in June 1947 in Beijing. A national representative bearer of the Carved Lacquer Craftsmanship, a fourth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. She is a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts. After graduating from the Beijing Arts and Crafts School she entered the Beijing Arts and Crafts Factory in 1968 and studied carved lacquer making successively under the veteran artisans Sun Maotong, Dong Maolin, Zhu Wenlin, Liu Wenrui, Kou Jiechen and Wu Yue, acquiring a comprehensive command of the characteristics of the technique. Her carving is sharp-edged, her rounded surfaces smooth, her forms accurate and her layering clear; she incorporates the techniques of three-dimensional sculpture and ivory carving, so that the features and personalities of her figures are rendered with great fidelity, and she combines carved lacquer with gold lacquer, ivory carving and filigree, enriching the creative forms and artistic styles of the craft. Her works have delicate pattern designs, rich subject matter, rigorous composition and a fresh, refined mood. She took part in the Exhibition of Fine Traditional Chinese Arts and Crafts held by the Chinese Academy of Arts, where her work Shiba Luohan Yuanpan (Plate of the Eighteen Arhats) won a gold award. Her apprentices include Zhu Jiang, Wang Huiru and Xie Lizi.
