第四批国家级非物质文化遗产项目风筝制作技艺（北京风筝制作技艺）代表性传承人。
中国工艺美术大师。
自幼喜爱风筝制作。
1963年与孔祥泽共同研究《南鹞北鸢考工志》手抄残本，根据所载风筝图谱及歌诀，运用传统扎、糊、绘、放工序，成功复制该手抄残本上的风筝。
1980年中国集邮公司以其作品为内容发行邮票一套（共四枚）。
九十七件风筝作品被中国美术馆收藏，十八件作品被首都博物馆收藏。
1998年编制出版《曹雪芹风筝谱》《曹雪芹扎燕风筝图谱》《曹雪芹扎燕风筝图谱考工志》，2008年著《曹雪芹风筝》。

培养弟子赵昆、李国帅、谷文华、武金茂、杨利平、孙贺、王春年、刘轶、许梅等。
