1947年进入苏州中国乐器社学习，师承著名民族乐器制作大师吕伟康。

男，汉族，1936年8月生，江苏省苏州市人。
第四批国家级非物质文化遗产项目民族乐器制作技艺（苏州民族乐器制作技艺）代表性传承人。
苏州民族乐器制作技师。
1958年，进入苏州民族乐器一厂从事民族乐器的制作和改革。
1996年退休后，受聘于苏州民族乐器一厂有限公司做技术顾问。
七十多年来致力于民族拉弦、弹拨乐器的制作实践，尤以制作二胡、古筝见长。
木工技艺精湛，能对不同质地、厚薄的皮膜和不同纹理、质地、部位的木材的发音效果深入分析研究。
先后研制了“板膜、皮膜大三胡”，革胡、转调（止音）扬琴、琵琶、方型革胡、三面皮膜革胡以及部分少数民族乐器。
曾改进二胡琴筒前口的结构，使发音厚实有力。
改革古筝内部结构，使发音更加清脆。
