He studied under the renowned physician Ran Xuefeng and Professor Yue Meizhong, a great master of the classical-formula school (jingfang pai). Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

A man of Han ethnicity, he was born in 1930 in Fuzhou, Fujian. Over several decades of clinical work and research on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, Chen Keji, drawing on his accumulated clinical observations, classified blood stasis patterns into such types as stasis arising from protracted illness, stasis necessarily present in severe warm-disease conditions, and stasis arising from traumatic external injury; according to the differing causes, he skillfully employed the activation of blood and resolution of stasis while accommodating other therapeutic methods, forming his own distinctive clinical medical system and characteristic academic experience in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, coronary heart disease in particular. Chen Keji intensively studied the classical works of Chinese medicine, including the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon (Huangdi Neijing), the Treatise on Cold Damage (Shanghan Lun), the Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet (Jingui Yaolue), and the Correction of Errors in Medical Literature (Yilin Gaicuo), and carried out a comprehensive and systematic collation of the literature on blood stasis patterns and the activation of blood and resolution of stasis. Works he edited include more than ten monographs, such as Research on Blood Stasis Patterns and the Activation of Blood and Resolution of Stasis (Xueyu Zheng yu Huoxue Huayu Yanjiu), together with more than three hundred research papers.
