从1955年开始，便跟随父亲方宜春学唱打鼓歌，在集体生产劳动中，为本村及周边乡镇的集体生产鼓劲助阵。
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
1986年，在武宁县政府举办的万人歌会暨学术研讨会上，演唱的《到山来》等多首曲目受到与会专家的高度赞誉。
部分曲目被《中国音乐词典》收为辞条。
2006年被特聘为打鼓歌教员，在全县中小学教授打鼓歌。

男，汉族，1941年10月生，2020年6月去世，江西省武宁县人。
第五批国家级非物质文化遗产项目薅草锣鼓（武宁打鼓歌）代表性传承人。
