1960年中学毕业参加生产队劳动，开始接触薅草锣鼓，随即跟随祖父冷应杰学习薅草锣鼓。

男，侗族，1944年10月生，湖北省宣恩县人。
善于即兴创作演唱，能见景生意，以通俗易懂、简洁明了、风趣生动的歌唱，唤起人们的情感共鸣。
嗓音洪亮、圆润，能把握韵律节奏，演唱技巧运用自如。
熟悉薅草锣鼓的各种演奏曲牌，掌握了锣、鼓、钹等相关打击乐器的演奏技巧。
从2008年开始，利用自家场地建立起民俗文化传习所，通过举办培训班，从中小学生中培养薅草锣鼓后继人才，并整理出二万余字的薅草锣鼓传统唱词资料。
Honors & Recognition
第五批国家级非物质文化遗产项目薅草锣鼓（宣恩薅草锣鼓）代表性传承人。
