Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, Mongolian ethnicity, born in 1925; a native of Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County, Xinjiang. From 1933 to 1942 he served as an apprentice in the house of a local chiliarch, where he learned the Todo Mongolian script and began to learn the stories of the Jangar manuscript by memorization and recitation. From 1980 to 1981, in order to collect and compile the Jangar, he sang and wrote down a total of thirty-two chapters of its stories; the twenty-five chapters of the Jangar Zhuanji (Collected Jangar) compiled on that basis have been published. He could chant and sing the Jangar in a high register, sometimes accompanying himself on the tobshur or the huqin. He is an artist recognized by both the Mongolian folk community and academic circles as capable of performing the Jangar in relatively complete form.
