Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, Han ethnicity, born in April 1971, a native of Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. After years of assiduous effort he has now fully inherited the traditional repertoire and performance methods of Huazhangmeng Daoist music, and has become increasingly accomplished in the playing techniques of the guanzi, suona and sheng. The traditional pieces he performs include Daguan Diao (The Great Official Tune), Baoshang Tai, Qingshou (Celebrating Longevity), Qinghua Zan, Sandian Jiu and Sanxing Ban. In performance he continually enriches and expands this ancient music; while preserving its authenticity, he has increased the number of instruments used in Huazhangmeng Daoist music from seven or eight to more than a dozen.
