Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, of Han ethnicity, born in May 1948 in Beijing. Raised in a family steeped in folk performance, he developed a passion for the dry-land boat dance from an early age; under the oral instruction and personal example of his father Ding Tai he gradually mastered the knowledge associated with it. He has a firm command of the boat-running techniques and stage routines, and has both inherited and developed its musical qupai, accompaniment, prop making and artistic design. He has led a dry-land boat formation in the mass parade for the thirty-fifth anniversary of the National Day and in large events celebrating the tenth anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations. In 2011 he formally accepted Qiu Zhenfei, Yang Zhengyu and Guo Cheng as disciples.
