Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
A man of the Han ethnicity, he was born in 1960 in Beijing. Tian Ruihua studied at the Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he obtained a bachelor's degree; he later studied at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Kumamoto University in Japan, successively earning a master's degree and a doctorate. In August 1982 Tian Ruihua joined the Tongrentang Group, where he systematically studied and mastered Tongrentang's traditional techniques for identifying and processing Chinese medicinal materials; at the same time, applying modern analytical and testing techniques, he carried out component analysis and structural identification of the Chinese medicinal coix seed (yiyiren), demonstrating that it contains no compounds with a coixenolide-like structure. He is well versed in Tongrentang's traditional techniques for pulverizing Chinese medicinals, and has actively introduced modern ultra-micronization technology, carrying out research on the reform of traditional Chinese medicinal decoction pieces and finished medicines. He engaged in in-depth study of Tongrentang's traditional pharmaceutical techniques and materia medica classics, and continually integrated Tongrentang's traditional pharmaceutical techniques with modern pharmaceutical theory, testing technology, and manufacturing processes, becoming a representative figure of Tongrentang's principal modern technologies.
