A dragon dance enthusiast from childhood, after graduating from junior middle school in 1972 he studied under Yao Jiongqiu and Yao Dihua, received the ancestral dragon score, and devoted his spare time to dragon dancing.

Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, of Han ethnicity, born in June 1957 in Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. In inheriting and developing the folk dragon dance he has formed a distinctive style and set of routines, with a consummate command of dragon dance techniques and of gong-and-drum accompaniment. He has long been devoted to the transmission of the Nine Dragon Dance through research, collation, choreography and training. More than one hundred times he has led the Nine Dragon Dance team in festival celebrations and art competitions at provincial, municipal and county level. Since 2010 he has led team members in entering-the-campus activities at schools near his home town. In April 2017 he was interviewed and filmed by The Power of Transmission, a program on the education channel of China Central Television. He also established an art gallery in Baiyang village to ensure the smooth running of training, rehearsals and exhibitions.
