From the age of fifteen she studied performance under the Huagudeng artist Zhang Xiaoshun, and later under the renowned veteran Huagudeng artist Jiang Duizi (Jiang Maoxuan).

Female, Han ethnicity, born in July 1947, a native of Yingshang County, Anhui Province. She is skilled in the lanhua role of Huagudeng and, on the basis of long study and reflection, has developed a series of novel poses, movements, fan flowers and handkerchief flowers. In the spring outing episode of the Huagudeng small wandering field (xiao youchang) she draws on the characteristics of the huadan role in opera for her steps and fan technique, incorporating the operatic methods of hand, eye, body and technique, and has innovatively used fan flower forms such as holding the fan in the mouth, kneading the fan and carrying the fan on the back. In performance she uses teasing, musical, flirtatious and playful gestures to convey feeling and unfold the story, making the Huagudeng dance more lyrical and graceful, with a presentation that is entirely fresh.
Honors & Recognition
A national representative bearer of Huagudeng (Yingshang Huagudeng), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. She has carefully trained a large number of Huagudeng students and founded the Xinying Huagudeng Art Troupe, of which she is director.
