Fond of literature and the arts from childhood, she was apprenticed to Lu Yuansheng, sixth-generation master of the Benggang opera troupe of Ceheng County.

Female, Bouyei, born in December 1966 in Ceheng County, Guizhou Province. At fourteen she sat the recruitment examination for Bouyei opera performers and was accepted; she joined the rehearsal company of Luo Xi Xing (Luo Xixing), took the leading female role, and appeared in opera presentations at prefectural and provincial level. In the late 1980s she returned to village life, and out of an innate love of the arts she taught Bouyei opera to enthusiasts of her own village during the slack farming season. Her principal disciples now number more than ten, among them Gao Yan and Wei Shanshan.
Honors & Recognition
She is a representative bearer of Buyi Opera, a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. In 1984 she took part in the national showcase and video recording of minority opera held in Kunming and received the Peacock Cup Award conferred by the Ministry of Culture and the State Nationalities Affairs Commission.
