男，土家族，1947年7月生，湖北省咸丰县人。
1962年进入南剧团，跟随老师谢白阶、覃有元学习表演生角，是咸丰南剧艺术界较有影响的生角演员。
已演出近百个剧目、五千余场次，代表剧目有传统南剧《王宝钏》《秦香莲》《御河桥》《四郎探母》等，现代南戏《张二嫂做中》《走过风雨桥》《女儿寨》《带血的钥匙》《老来喜》等。
近年来，为庆祝世界文化遗产唐崖土司城遗址申遗成功，参与大型现代南剧《唐崖土司夫人》的幕后编排导演工作。
Honors & Recognition
第五批国家级非物质文化遗产项目南剧代表性传承人。
扮演或编导的剧目曾多次获奖。
