出身于端鼓腔表演世家，1984年开始跟随祖父和父亲学唱端鼓腔，1990年开始参加演出，逐渐成长为端鼓腔领军人物。

声音洪亮高亢，唱腔粗犷豪放，韵味醇厚，在端鼓腔表演方面有较高的天赋，能够演出几十台连台大戏。
扮演男角粗犷豪放、韵味醇厚；扮演女角秀丽优美、细腻含蓄。
表演风格憨厚质朴、刚柔相济。
组织成立的端鼓腔庄户剧团常年收徒传艺。

第五批国家级非物质文化遗产项目端鼓腔代表性传承人。
