少年时随父亲陈琴趣和表姨吴子美学习古琴。
陈长林在原有闽派基础上兼习各家之长，形成自身独特的特点，是闽派重要传人。

男，汉族，1932年生，福建福州人。
1951年及1956年先后加入上海今虞琴社和北京古琴研究会，同时向查阜西、吴景略、张子谦等著名琴家学习。
现为中国科学院计算技术研究所研究员，中国琴会常务理事，北京古琴研究会理事，北美琴社顾问。
1958年以来发掘(打谱)有《胡笳十八拍》等五十多首琴曲，发表了近二十篇古琴学术文章，并出版有《闽江琴韵》个人专辑。
Honors & Recognition
第二批国家级非物质文化遗产项目古琴艺术代表性传承人。
