Male, of the Han ethnic group, born in August 1973 in Guangyuan County, Sichuan Province. A master of arts and crafts of Sichuan Province and the fifth-generation transmitter of Baihua stone carving. He has devoted himself to Baihua stone carving for nearly thirty years, persisting in traditional methods of creation; he is deft at working according to the qualities of the material, with ingenious conceptions and consummate skill. His works are finely modelled, vivid in image and distinct in colour, with a pronounced regional character, and he is representative and influential in this field. He compiled and published Guangyuan Baihua Stone Carving, which sorts out the century-long history of Baihua stone carving.
Honors & Recognition
A national representative bearer of stone carving (Baihua stone carving), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. Works such as Su Wu Herding Sheep (Su Wu Mu Yang), Jianmen Pass (Jian Men Guan) and Spring Comes Early on the Shu Road (Shu Dao Chun Zao) have repeatedly taken part in cultural exchanges at home and abroad and have won awards. Attaching importance to transmitting the craft, he established the Guangyuan Baihua Stone Carving Workshop and has trained more than ten successors. Together with universities in Guangyuan City he set up a training base for intangible cultural heritage and holds lectures on Baihua stone carving to cultivate a reserve force among university students.
