Female, Han ethnicity, born in April 1936 in Yangxin county, Hubei Province. From childhood she studied the craft of Yangxin cloth appliqué under her grandmother and her mother, and when she left school to work in farming she helped her elders make appliqué embroideries for everyday household use.
