A national representative bearer of Tan Sheepskin Tanning Craftsmanship (Ermo Lambskin Making Craftsmanship), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. Fourth-generation inheritor of ermo lambskin making craftsmanship. The traditional ermo lambskin making process in Ningxia comprises more than thirty stages, each of which demands the utmost refinement; only ermo lambskin products made in strict accordance with the operating procedures will not develop insects, deform, or fade. Over more than forty years in the craft, building on a thorough mastery of traditional ermo lambskin making, he has through constant practice and experimentation brought the Ding family's ermo lambskin technique to increasing maturity. The ermo lambskin he produces has a hide as thin as heavy paper yet tough in texture; the fur is soft, full, and even and the garment is very light. It does not develop insects, deform, or retain odors, and the product can even be washed in water and will return to its original appearance once dried. In recent years he has gradually passed the ermo lambskin making craft to his sons Ding Jianguo and Ding Jianjun and to more than thirty disciples.
