Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, Mongolian ethnicity, born in 1935; a monk of the lama temple in the Kehaotehu'er Mongol Township, Nilka County, Xinjiang. He is an artist of the family-transmission type: from childhood he learned to narrate and sing the Geser (the name by which the Gesar came to be known after it spread among the Mongolian peoples), along with folk narrative poems, folk tales, zhuzanci (eulogies), and many other works of Mongolian folk literature. At present he can perform five parts of the Geser, which have already been included in the first volume of the series Xinjiang Weilate (Oirat) Mongol Geser. His narration is relatively calm and even, yet rich in expression.
