Male, Han ethnicity, born in August 1931 in Sanmen County, Zhejiang Province. His family has lived in the locality for generations, and he is thoroughly familiar with the ceremonial procedures and cultural traditions of the Sanmen winter sacrifice. In the work of intangible cultural heritage protection he has enthusiastically assisted the cultural departments in carrying out surveys, research and the collation of documentation. Since 1982 he has organized and taken part in the winter sacrifice every year and has presided over its rites.

Honors & Recognition

He is a national representative bearer of Nongliershisijieqi (the 24 Solar Terms; Sanmen Winter Sacrifice), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He has done his utmost to protect the objects and historical documents relating to the winter sacrifice and persists in practising its ritual. He is eager to train successors to the winter sacrifice and has already trained a group of young bearers.
