Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

He began practising the craft in 1965 and has been active in it for more than fifty years. The Doumen water-borne wedding ceremonies and the related skills he transmits have exerted considerable influence in Doumen and the surrounding areas. As early as the early 1960s he was already invited to Xinhui, Jiangmen and other places to plan and direct weddings for families living on the water. Over the decades he has travelled tirelessly through the water-town districts to arrange weddings for local people; he has also composed a large body of vividly worded water-borne wedding songs and passed his singing techniques on to local villagers without reservation. In early 2008 he began running a training class in water-borne wedding etiquette at the Lianzhou Town Cultural Centre, organising villagers to study the relevant ceremonies in a systematic way.
