Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Female, Tibetan ethnicity, born in January 1964, a native of Guinan County, Qinghai Province. In childhood, under the careful guidance of her parents, who could both cut and sew, she embarked on the path of initial study. After her parents passed away she studied cutting successively under Zhi Ba and Danzeng, well-known costume artisans of the locality, and grew into a skilful and ingenious cutter. She later went on to the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Cultural Labour Service Company for further study, learning costume design and sewing techniques. She opened a garment workshop in Qabqa Town, Gonghe County, devoting herself to the transmission and development of Amdo costume. For more than twenty years she has concentrated on inheritance and innovation, deftly integrating traditional garment forms and decoration with modern aesthetics and the needs of the people, so that ethnic character and fashion bring out the best in each other.
