Male, of the She ethnic group, born in May 1939, a native of Jingning She Autonomous County, Zhejiang Province. As an adult he became especially skilled at presiding over She weddings and the zuo gongde, or merit-making, rites. He has a thorough command of every stage of She wedding customs and takes an active part in and directs She wedding performances, She folk song competitions, She dance competitions and other events. He has compiled the folk songs of She wedding customs into a volume and recorded a documentary on She dance, and he once took charge of directing the filming of the feature programme She Weddings.
Honors & Recognition
He is a representative bearer of Wedding Customs (She Wedding Customs), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He is eager to pass on the rituals, songs and dances associated with She weddings and has trained a number of apprentices.
