He is the fourth-generation transmitter of the Chagan Sulide sacrifice. Beginning with his great-grandfather Tumengerile, his family has devoted itself to managing, organising and presiding over the Chagan Sulide sacrificial rites, a history of nearly one hundred and fifty years.
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, of the Mongolian ethnic group, born in February 1948, a native of Wushen Banner in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He has worked to refine the sacrificial rites and by 2002 had largely restored the full form of the Chagan Sulide sacrifice. At the same time he approached relevant media organisations throughout the country and produced more than ten feature programmes, including In Pursuit of the Great Nine-Streamered Banner of the Mongol Empire and The Lost Chagan Sulide, which gave dedicated coverage to Chagan Sulide culture.
Honors & Recognition
He is a representative bearer of the Chagan Sulide Sacrifice, a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He has edited, compiled and published works including The Sacrifice of the Nine-Streamered White Banner and The Ritual Texts of the Nine-Streamered White Banner Sacrifice, and has received several awards, among them an award for outstanding achievement in rescuing, protecting and studying Sulide culture. His apprentice Hugejiletu is now able to take charge of the various sacrificial activities independently.
