Li Rongzai
Lineage & School of Heritage
In 1992 Li Rongzai became a pupil of Liang Ruyi, second-generation transmitter of the Guangdong awakening lion, and worked solidly from the basic skills of the traditional ground lion, namely rising, stepping, probing and leaping. The following year he went to the Huang Feihong hall in Nanhai, Foshan, to study the traditional high-pole lion technique under Li Nianzhong; in 2002 he returned to his village as a coach and passed the lion-dance skills to the village's fourth-generation transmitters Li Guolian, Liang Qixian, Li Guo-lian, Liang Zhong, Fang Shunwen and Liang Shuji, and later went of his own accord beyond the village to Guangdong, Hunan and Guangxi to teach the lion art, bringing out several dozen new lion troupes.
