Cao Huairong, a male of Han ethnicity, was born in 1939 in Ansai, Shaanxi. From childhood he learned waist-drum playing under his father, Cao Dewang, and mastered the entire performance repertoire of Ansai waist drum. He has trained numerous waist-drum performers of the older, middle-aged and younger generations, making an important contribution to the popularization of Ansai waist drum.
Honors & Recognition
He is a national representative bearer of Ansaiyaogu, a second-batch national intangible cultural heritage project.
