Wang Mingzhi
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
As the Miao have had no writing system of their own throughout their history, the creation and transmission of the Miao Ancient Songs could rely only on oral transmission from mouth to mouth. Wang Mingzhi began learning the Miao Ancient Songs from her mother and grandmother at the age of five, and she became a master singer after the age of thirty. Besides the Miao Ancient Songs, Wang Mingzhi could also sing more than one hundred Da Songs, wine songs, and traveling songs.
