Li Longbin
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, Han ethnicity, born in 1956 in Hefei, Anhui. In his early years Li Longbin studied under An Shuying, Jin Hongrong, Zhang Qixiang, Xu Qinna, Cao Shangli and others, acquiring a fairly comprehensive command of the performing techniques of Hui opera, and from the 1990s he gradually became a leading figure of the genre. His performance captures with precision the rough, bold and unrestrained spirit of the rustic stage, with its dramatic rises and falls, while in his singing he both inherits tradition and displays characteristics of his own, earning him the name "inheritor of the Hui troupe". His representative works include Linjiang Hui (The Meeting by the River) and Lu Bu and Diaochan.
