Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, of the Han ethnic group, born in 1945 in Taishun, Zhejiang. Zhou Erlu studied the gunpowder-puppet craft under Zhou Mingshou, ensuring the transmission of this intricate and finely worked art. Gunpowder puppetry is the offspring of fireworks and puppets: the performer joins the spectacle of both in performance, so that puppet figures appear as the fireworks are set off and put on spinning, somersaulting and other effects.
