从私立学校辍学回家务农后向清水江沿岸有名的歌师学习，涉猎了所有传统苗族古歌，掌握三十多首长篇古歌。
还自唱录制磁带百余盒，收录《开天辟地》《三保》《十二保》《五母歌》《造日歌》《仰阿莎》等近千首苗族古歌。
这些苗族古歌历史悠久、背景深邃，语言生动、概括性强，富于哲理、耐人寻味。
唱腔低回婉转，旋律优美流畅，具有明显的古风遗韵。

男，苗族，1931年1月生，2013年2月去世，贵州省台江县人。
第三批国家级非物质文化遗产项目苗族古歌代表性传承人。
重视传承，向下一代传授自己所掌握的古歌，认为苗歌主干不能变，但枝干、花叶长势取决于歌手。
