Naoerjima
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Born into a family of folk singers, she grew up listening to her parents and elders sing Khalkha-style Mongol urtiin duu (long songs) at nair banquets. Through this constant immersion she learned and transmitted more than sixty traditional pieces, and her singing carries the pronounced characteristics of Khalkha Mongol long song. For many years she devoted herself to transmitting and spreading Khalkha-style long song, passing on the traditional long-song repertoire she had learned and sung to her own children and disciples. Her improvised yorool (blessing invocations) are neatly rhetorical, archaic in diction and humorously witty, and contain many Mongol historical allusions, poems and proverbs.
