Lineage & School of Heritage

By the 1980s she was already a well-known local hua'er singer and a transmitter of the hua'er tradition of Ding Rulan, the foremost singer of her generation, known as Qiong Gami (Poor Young Sister).

Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Female, Han, born in February 1958, a native of Kangle County, Gansu Province. She grew up at the foot of Lianhua Mountain (Lotus Mountain) and, nurtured by the Lianhua Mountain hua'er of her forebears, can both compose and sing. Out of a devoted love of hua'er she overcame her lack of basic musical training and the difficulties of playing with a band, matching keys and performing, and brought hua'er into a new era, becoming a folk empress of hua'er in the truest sense. Every year she takes part in various hua'er competitions and sings at many hua'er gatherings.

Honors & Recognition

National representative bearer of Hua'er (Lianhua Mountain Hua'er Fair), a third-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. She has won awards many times in singing competitions at national, provincial and municipal levels.
