13岁起跟随父亲朱英学习平湖派琵琶基本指法，1954年父亲去世后，他根据父亲教的基本指法进行自学。

男，汉族，1939年7月生，浙江省平湖市人。
1958年至1966年，曾多次去上海樊伯炎家中校正平湖派琵琶的演奏指法。
通过自学以及樊伯炎的指点后能弹奏平湖派琵琶曲《浔阳琵琶》《平沙落雁》《枫桥夜泊》《淮阴平楚》等。
艺术风格以丰满华丽而又坚实淡远著称。
近年来，在各传承教学基地任教，开展传承教学工作，积极参加各项平湖派琵琶相关的展示展演活动。

第三批国家级非物质文化遗产项目琵琶艺术（平湖派）代表性传承人。
