Male, of Han ethnicity, born in 1936, a native of Beijing. He was a national representative bearer of Ivory Carving, a first-batch national intangible cultural heritage project, and a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts. Beginning in 1950 he served successively as an apprentice in the ivory-carving workshops of Chen Xiu and Deng Wenli, studying under the ivory carvers Chen Xiu and Deng Wenli, the latter known as 'Beauty Deng'. In the mid-1970s he undertook advanced study at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and became adept at carving ivory figures of beautiful women. He organically combined traditional ivory-carving techniques with Chinese and foreign art theory, paying close attention to human proportion and structure. He created the 'wind-swept sash lady' and 'reverse-pose lady' figure types, as well as a 'block-positioning' method of carving, and produced a great many artworks of distinctive artistic character and consummate beauty. His achievements in the cause of ivory carving are there for all to see. His representative works include Jinci Shinü (The Beauty of the Jin Shrine) and Ren Bi Huanghua Shou (Thinner than the Yellow Flowers), among others.

Meanwhile, the two representative bearers he trained, Li Chunde and Chai Ciji, have themselves become Masters of Chinese Arts and Crafts.
