5岁开始学习道教音乐，主攻三弦、笙、笛。
1946年（14岁）起跟华伯扬学习道乐演奏，并常得阿炳等名师指点。
经过多年学习与实践，鼓、笛、笙、三弦、胡琴、琵琶样样精通。
在道场仪式中做功威严、技艺洒脱，锣鼓表演中鼓段节奏变化丰富多彩。
生前抢救出一大批濒临失传的道教乐谱与科仪，并为1999年出版的《无锡道教科仪音乐研究》提供了部分原始资料。
1999年开始，潜心教授年轻道士道教音乐演奏技艺，培养出了伍虎勇等一批年轻道乐人才。
主要作品有《清净自然香》《步步高》《梅稍月》《吓西风》《寿亭侯》等。

法号罗纬，男，汉族，1932年9月生，2009年9月去世，江苏省无锡市人。
第三批国家级非物质文化遗产道教音乐（无锡道教音乐）代表性传承人。
